Research

(a)   Research Completed

  1. Comparison of biofilm formation potentials of selected Gram-positive bacteria under various environmental conditions.
  2. Antagonistic studies of Lactic Acid Bacteria against Mycobacterium bovis in milk.
  3. Production, evaluation and biotechnological applications of bacterial laccases.

(b) Research In Progress

I am researching into the microbial enhancement of ‘agro wastes’ into renewable energy, molecular characterisation of microorganisms, influence of plasmid associations on microbial activities and understanding bacterial interactions in different environments through biofilm formation.

I am also looking at the microbial communities in oral cavities in conjunction with other colleagues, studying their genetic variations which could lead to differential phenotypes in isolates.

I am actively involved in the preparation and recovery of microbial products and their potential applications in medicine and other fields. In this regard, I am currently involved in the genetic study of bioplastic production by Pseudomonas species and gamma polyglutamic acid production in Bacillus species.

Filament induction in Gram negative rods

            (c) Dissertations and Thesis

  1. Physiological characteristics of some fibre-depolymerising microorganisms and their incorporation in microbially-modified feed for layers (Ph.D. Thesis, University of Ibadan, 2008).
