You are welcome into the Department of Zoology, University of Ibadan, Ibadan. With an academic staff of 21 distinguished Zoologists, the department is the largest and leading Zoology Department in Nigeria. A successful academic pursuit in Zoology and indeed in any University Programme entails the following:

          attending classes, tutorials and practicals regularly,

           studying privately with tenacity of purpose,

          taking meaningful notes which can be used for revision,

          examining specimens, apparatus and experimental set up provided diligently and meticulously

          and working on past questions to be familiar with depth and scope of each course.

Students who register for Zoology as a non-major course are provided with sound background information on animals and animal life relevant to their areas of specialization. The current curriculum of Zoology in the University of Ibadan is designed to groom its graduates to become competent professionals and consultants in fields relating to life and the environment (toxicology, environmental impact assessment); capture and culture fisheries; pest control; vaccine production; Genetics and Molecular Biology; wild life/zoo management; ethnozoology; biological specimen preservations, display and production; etc.
