Current (Research) Projects/Activities

CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS:

 (i)      Use of Avian fauna in the Assessment of the Health of Selected Wetland Ecosystems.

This ongoing research is a follow-up to earlier studies by our group that have assessed the biodiversity of selected wetlands in South-Western Nigeria. We continue the study by monitoring the level of selected pollutants in avian tissues in order to assess the health of our wetland ecosystems threatened by pollution.

(ii)    Evaluation of the Hepatotoxicity, Nephrotoxicity and Reproductive toxicity of Waste oil Contaminated Groundwater from an Auto-Mobile Spare parts Market in Ibadan, Nigeria in Swiss Albino Mice.

This study is assessing the hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity and reproductive toxicity effects in mice orally exposed to waste oil contaminated water from an automobile spare-parts market in order to provide data-based evidence of the potential health risks associated with consumption of the contaminated water. The study also aims at determining some of the possible mechanisms of toxicity underlying some of the observed effects.
