RESEARCH

Theme: The research theme is centred on Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology. The hydrogeologic component deals with the assessment of groundwater system with emphasis on the Occurrence, distribution, hydraulic movement and chemical /quality evolution within the subsurface medium with emphasis on Rock-water interaction (RWI). Further more, application of isotopes in understanding groundwater history such as origin, recharge and age. The focus of the environmental geological assessment is hinge on the monitoring of contaminants and pollutants from both geogenic and anthropogenic source, from point and non-point sources such as waste site, Saline water intrusion, septic tanks, effluent, pipe leakage and hydrocarbon sources that are threatening to ground/surface water quality.
